The pretty village of Arona is found on the hillside behind Los Cristianos. It is a typical Canarian village with a small number of bars, cafes and restaurants in a peaceful setting.
This shot is of the shaded square, Plazo de Christo de la Salud, where the houses lining the square often display overflowing window boxes of colourful flowers. Arona enjoys a backdrop of majestic mountains and pine trees and is a picturesque spot to unwind, with a cool drink or a leisurely lunch, away from the heat of the beach.
Arona is also the source (or destination, depending on your direction!) of many footpaths leading into the mountains; for instance the trail to the Barranco del Infierno, or up to the table topped mountain behind Los Cristianos, known as Roque de el Conde.
