Garachico is a pretty little town on the north coast of Tenerife. It's a long drive from the popular southern holiday resorts, but the drive gives you an opportunity to see the rest of the island.
The town itself used to be the main port of Tenerife back in the 17th century, but was destroyed by a volcanic eruption.
Garachico has had its fair share of disasters: Bubonic plague, storms, a plague of locusts and fires among them! However, it is now a traditional and attractive town with these impressive rock pools, as well as narrow, cobbled streets and cool plazas. We enjoyed looking around here and would recommend it to visitors.
