Los Gigantes is a surprisingly popular resort with British holiday makers. Surprising because it currently hasn't got a beach!
Let us explain: there is a beach here (Playa los Guios) - I am sure it is lovely. But you can't actually use it or even get near enough to look at it, because it is all fenced off. This is because in 2009, rocks falling from the cliffs above, sadly killed two sunbathers on Los Guios beach. Since then, the beach has been closed to the public. Despite an announcement that it was being made safe in January 2011 and would expect to be re-open in about two and a half months, this has not materialised and it remains closed (April 2011).
The resort does have neighbouring beaches at Puerto Santiago (miniscule and with equally precarious cliffs) or Playa de la Arena (lovely but a short drive away).
