This view of Mount Teide shows the huge caldera, from which the active volcano of Teide towers even higher. This caldera itself is at over 3000m.
The air here is fresh and cooler than down at the sea. Its a lovely place to come and take time out from the heat of the beach. Various information boards are sited around, which tell you about the geology of the area and the flora and fauna found here.
You may even recognise some of the secnery here from locations used in the 2010 film 'Clash of the Titans'.
