San Juan at dusk. If you are looking at this shot and thinking, 'That looks pretty, but it's a bit quiet, ' that is because that is exactly what it was: seriously pretty and wonderfully quiet.
It wouldn't suit everybody. There are no all-inclusive hotels here, no clubs and wild party scene in the evening, not a 'time share' promoter in sight and no hawkers of fake sunglasses or watches. Just a few good bars and restaurants, some mini supermarkets (and a big one just out of town), and the sea to swim in.
There are two beaches - one sandier, smaller and more sheltered. You can hire a sunlounger here which we did, (but they often forgot to ask for the money) and instead of partying the night away, you could go for a midnight walk on the sands or an early morning jog along the promenade and onto the cliffs.
For us: perfect.
