Playa La Arena, we liked this place. It feels very upmarket, compared to the larger, brasher resorts of Playa de las Americas and the blue ribbon beach is really pretty.
The volcanic sand is black and shelves evenly into a fairly sheltered bay with tempting, crystal clear water. Pleasant bars and cafes run along the sea-front, with hotels and apartments behind.
The next resort of Los Gigantes is a short drive away, where the pretty harbour offers boat trips and diving excursions.
